Select placement order in private games or Tournaments
When playng with friends in a private match, to have the ability to choose who goes in what position. This would be helpful for a tournament we're going to run where the winner of the group stage gets first pick of what position (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th) they want to go, then the runner up fom the group stage and so on.

Roch MergedI'm running a regular season/tournament offline and using Colonist to set up the games. Once we get to the playoffs, it'd be nice for there to be a setting where you could designate the order of settlement placement based on the board. For example, the highest seed gets to look at the board and then select which selection spot they want, providing a benefit for them having a better regular season. Prateek87 MergedWouldn't agree to it. That would give an unfair advantage at the start of the game to the player ranked 1st. For eg: In tennis, it is random draw to decide which player would serve first even in semis or finals. The only advantage that a higher ranked player gets is that the 1st ranked would play 4th in semis, but not any advantage in the game itself. I think in semis who will play with who can be decided based on ranks, but not to take the advantage any further.

Sam MergedMy group is looking to have a 12 game tournament, but our data suggests that the turn order heavily impacts win rate and average VP, particularly in 6 player games. To normalize this effect, we would love to have the ability to select a custom turn order for each game. That way each person would get 2 games from each of the 6 positions.

Rowen MergedWould be awesome if we could choose custom placement orders or custom boards. Some examples of why this would be nice are:
1. Choosing placement order for online tournaments
2. Recreating past boards you have played on or even famous boards used for national finals
3. Trying out wacky boards
4. A solution for your complaining friend who says "I never get to place first"
Also it would be cool if you could choose placement order after seeing the board like how they do at most tournaments. -

I hope colonist takes this one seriously because content creators would get lots of utility out of this. I have seen Dylighted request this feature in the past and he would use it in videos which would help market colonist and the feature to the public!

alna MergedAFAIK, custom boards with placement order choice based on qualifier rank is the way playoff games are played at official Catan tournaments, so this is a must have feature if colonist.io wants to keep its position as the preferred choice for competitive Catan games. Honestly, I'm a bit puzzled why this hasn't been implemented a long time ago.

AlexInAuburnAdd a checkmark for setting playing order. Then enable the ability to reorder the player list. Instead of the Top player being in control of the game set-up, Highlight the room controller in a special-colored background, and allow the person in control of the room to be able to give control to someone else in the room, without disabling the ability to play their maps and expansions (they just must remain in the room and play in the game).
