The AI is really pretty poor. In particular, I don't understand their obsession with building roads. The game-score evaluation function shouldn't just be based on current score, which is what I'm guessing is driving that behavior. It's a pretty simple game, so it really shouldn't be hard to program a semi-optimal AI.
You guys could create an interface which allowed users to submit their own bots. I guarantee I could write something better than what's currently there in a couple hours.
