Improve bot robber placement
It's placed robber on this 8 twice now. Pretty sure the 5 or 6 would be more damaging.

Esqarrouth AdminI edited the title, and added the keyword 'robber'.
You're sure robber was not in 6 before, right? -

corpssswhen/if you look at this, could you also confirm bot steals based on visible number of points or total points after VP cards? had a few times where it steals from me when I'm not the leader based on visible points, but tied on total.

Esqarrouth AdminThey look at total points after VP cards.
RegularRandomZ also noticed this. https://www.reddit.com/r/Katan/comments/bxmi7h/do_the_bots_cheat_can_they_see_your_hand/
The alternative would be, if you had 5 development cards, and 4 of them were points. You'd be visible as 5 points, but actually have 9 points. If there was another player with 6 points, human players would block the guy with 5 points. But if we change this based on visible points, then bots will never target the guys with 5 points. -

Esqarrouth AdminWhat do you think of this platform so far?

corpsssWhen I have 4(5) with 1 dev card, and another player has 5(0) with no dev card, the bot should steal from the 5(0).
When you get to late game and there's a choice between someone 7(9) with 2 dev cards, and 8(8) with 2 dev cards, the bot will steal from the 7(9), giving the game away. -

corpsssThe bot should not be able to see more information than a human can - it should make decisions based on only visible points + dev cards. An improved bot could also involve previous actions(ie not placing knight at opportune moment) /game state(where should I place robber to prevent player getting cards needed to win)

corpsss1. I get notifications on reddit
2. This is harder to find.
3. This is more effort to post (more things to enter/check)
4. I've typed this post twice now. Seems to get lost if you post too many.
5. 500 char limit -

Esqarrouth AdminA proposed solution for this problem is: steal_points = VP_from_stuff + 0.5*dev_card_count
So:
6 VP-0 dev => 6 steal point
6 VP-2 dev => 7 steal point
6(8) VP-2dev => 7 steal point
7 VP-0 dev => 7 steal point
8 VP-0 dev => 8 steal point
This way VP cards are weighted in, but direct VP is has more weight. What do you think? -

0. Can't quote here
1. You got no notifications or emails for the responses?
2. Yep
3. Yep
4. Didn't happen to be, but yeah this place isn't as polished as reddit
5. Yep
6. So this platform for submitting and upvoting, reddit for discussions? -

corpsss1. nothing
4. Happened on the third post
6. That'll be more confusing. I wrote a tl;dr on the post that got deleted:
tl'dr You will get less feedback here than on reddit. If the time you save is worth more than the feedback you'll miss, stay here. Else return to reddit. -

corpsssYes that's better than current.

I see what you mean. The thing is I'm only going to be able to do a fraction of the feedback I receive. At least his way I can pinpoint the most important ones easily.
Thank you for your input! -

JohnVP in hand?
1) early in game - ignore them. Even if they are VPs, cities/resources are more a threat
2) act human - until you put the robber on them and see they don't move it away, you don't know they have a VP.
3) not playing their cards, or collecting a lot of them increases the odds of having a useful card (road building, monop, etc.) -

John MergedIt's pretty obvious that a player sitting high value wheat/wool/ore with cities on all of them is in a very strong position and it likely to win, but the bots are unable to see the leader as anything but "points". It doesn't seem like a huge jump in functionality/complexity to calculate a relative weighting of board positions.

jessie MergedIn this latest game, a player gets 8 resources when number 4 rolls due to cities and having both 4 location, and all the same resource (ore), yet bots move the robber to block an entirely different spot where that leader only gets 1 on a roll. Largely due to it's obsession to block 2 players at once, but also because it seems to practically ignore 10/4 with the robber unless forced to despite many games being dominate by 4 and 10. There is still plenty of reason to block it with far higher pri

jessie MergedYes, conceptually they aren't as likely to roll as 6/8 ... but that doesn't justify largely ignoring those positions
